The amazing Meghan Turner, Wesley Ray (2) and Hudson Cooper (3 mo)
Meghan discovered she was pregnant with Wesley at age 23. She was separated from his father at this point and was determined to be a single mother. Most of the pregnancy went well but she discovered that Wesley had a enlarged renal pelvis, which had to be monitored for a year after he was born. Luckily, it resolved itself and he is healthy today. Wesley was a large baby and Meghan had a 4th degree laceration at birth followed by immediate emergency surgery. Because of this, she knew her following births would have to be cesarean because of risk to my pelvic floor. While pregnant, she began dating her now-husband who is also Wesley's stepfather. They bonded immediately and although her husband did not want children at first, he knew they had to have another because he was so in love with Wesley.
Meghan's husband underwent a reverse vasectomy 5 months after their wedding and 3 months later she was pregnant again. Most of the pregnancy went well, though she had extreme morning sickness for the first 5 months. About halfway through the pregnancy they discovered that Hudson had a cyst on his brain which caused a lot of worry but it resolved by 8 months gestation. Hudson was born via cesarean and while his birth went well, the recovery was very difficult. Meghan bled for almost 12 weeks and discovered later that she has endometriosis which was may have contributed to the issues during Wesley's birth. Meghan was also diagnosed with cervical cancer as a teenager, and while they were able to remove it all, she has scar tissue from that as well. Luckily, none of the health issues have impacted their well being now, and everyone is happy and healthy despite the obstacles along the way.
"I chose to participate because I want to illuminate the importance to my family on the beauty of birth and the mother's magical journey and ability to create life. I want women to be appreciated and the body of mothers to be embraced by all of society."
